The Grand Island Mansion is a luxurious wedding venue located in Walnut Grove, CA. This historic mansion located in the heart of the delta just 30-minutes outside Sacramento. Grand Island Mansion blends a Renaissance styled villa with modern amenities you would expect from a 21st century wedding venue. It has a classical charm – sparkling fountain, a velvety lawn, and a Mediterranean–inspired patio that will surely take your breath away. Over 24,000 sq ft, with 58 rooms this amazing villa was constructed in 1920.
The Grand Island Mansion features multiple spaces to transform your wedding day. They have multiple ceremony options. First is the Italian Sanctuary Garden. Make your grand entrance from the staircase, down the fountain, and into either of the two unique spaces on opposite sides. One contains a backdrop of six columns perfect for your wedding ceremony. The opposite side is lushly lined with palms and greenery for a cooler and shaded ceremony.
Likewise, there are multiple options for your reception at Grand Island Mansion. Firstly, there is the elegant main dining room with stunning architecture, classical artwork, and a chandelier. In fact, on selected Sundays you can dine here for a champagne brunch to take in the scenery. Secondly, you can opt to have your reception in the Marquee – covered white-sheer curtain interior decorated with three large ornate chandeliers. A perfect option to accommodate a large wedding between 200 to 400 guests. Finally, hold cocktail hour in the Mediterranean Patio.
I was so excited when Hser and Jonathan contacted me about being the photographer for their wedding at the Grand Island Mansion. She described her inspiration as Studio Ghibli spring. As a Ghibli fan myself I was very excited to photograph her wedding as I knew it would be full of color. They opted to keep the wedding as relaxed as possible. Hser obtained all her florals from GroLuv and built all her centerpieces. Their circular wedding arch adorned with wisterias in the Italian ceremony space was truly a breathtaking site. Continuing the Ghibli theme, Hser walked down the aisle to one of my favorite Ghibli songs: Merry-Go-Round of Life by Joe Hiashi. Once the ceremony was over we headed straight into brunch in the main dining room followed by drinking and dancing on the Mediterranean patio.
I am so honored that Hser and Jonathan chose me to be part of their wedding day. My favorite photos throughout the day were captured on 35mm film. This is the first blog where I am featuring an entire wedding gallery on a blog through 35mm film. If you do want to see some digitals check out my Instagram or email me to take sneak peek at their full gallery.
