Charisma and Daniel chose Filoli Gardens (pronounced figh-Lo-Lee) for their engagement session, and it couldn’t have been a better match. The historic estate provided a stunning backdrop with its well-manicured gardens, classical architecture, and serene atmosphere. The lush greenery and vibrant blooms perfectly complemented the couple’s easy-going nature, allowing their love to shine effortlessly in each shot. Their passion for serving others as nurses was evident in their caring demeanor, making them a joy to work with. Filoli Gardens offered a peaceful retreat where Charisma and Daniel could relax, be themselves, and enjoy the moment.

Favorite Spots in Filoli Gardens

When photographing at Filoli Gardens, I particularly enjoy capturing moments at the historic house and courtyard, the garden house, and the pool. The historic house and courtyard provide a timeless backdrop, perfect for more formal portraits. The garden house, surrounded by lush greenery, offers an intimate setting that feels almost magical. The pool area, with its reflective surface and classical design, adds a touch of elegance to any photo session.

Admission and Timing at Filoli Gardens

To visit Filoli Gardens, there is an admission fee of $38 per person. I highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance, especially during peak seasons, as the gardens are a popular destination. Filoli Gardens is open daily 10am to 5pm, but it’s important to note that weekends tend to be more crowded. A pro tip: aim for a weekday session to enjoy a quieter, more relaxed experience. Photography is allowed for engagement sessions, but off-camera gear like lighting stands is not permitted. This ensures the natural beauty of the gardens remains undisturbed while still allowing for stunning photographs.

Coastal Engagement at Montara State Beach

After their session at Filoli Gardens, Charisma and Daniel opted for a coastal contrast at Montara State Beach. This location is a favorite for couples who love the ocean’s raw beauty and want a more relaxed, natural setting for their engagement photos. Montara State Beach’s rugged cliffs, sandy shores, and sweeping ocean views provided a dramatic backdrop that perfectly highlighted the couple’s adventurous spirit. Charisma and Daniel’s easy-going personalities made it easy to capture authentic moments, whether they were walking hand in hand along the shore or simply enjoying the cool ocean breeze.
